Cleopatra (Gold Hood)

I made this hood/burqua—like garment out of gold lamé fabric (which you can see right through when looking through the underside of the material, but not the ‘gilded’ side!)—after being inspired by both my collage that I posted previously, as well as the classic film Cleopatra starring Elizabeth Taylor.  I think Cleopatra is a great example of a real-life Donna Haraway cyborg, being a Greek and Egyptian woman who certainly lived up to the legend of the almost-exclusively male title of “pharoah.”
